City Heights

Our unique connection with City Heights stems from the rich, vibrant and historic East African community here, and the overwhelming need to address the physical and mental health-related impacts on East African refugee women in particular. From the neighborhoods of Azalea Park, Bayridge, Castle, Cherokee Point, Chollas Creek, Colina Park, Fairmount Park, Fairmount Village, Fox Canyon, Hollywood Park, Islenair, Ridgeview, Swan Canyon, to Teralta East And West and Little Mogadishu, City Heights is rich in cultural diversity.

In response to this challenge, every day we work to build bridges between the community and service providers to implement a successful, linguistically-appropriate, culturally-competent, and cost-effective physical and mental health intervention program that will enable East African women and their families to access and benefit from existing services.
